The Civic Hub Ecosystem

The SFS Civic Hub & Media Platform serves as a vibrant center for learning, dialogue, creativity, and community engagement across Somalia. Designed as a permanent civic infrastructure platform, it brings together public learning spaces, community media, youth engagement initiatives, and professional facilities that support inclusive participation, innovation, and social development.

Puntland Library & Resource Center

The Puntland Library & Resource Center (PLRC) in Garowe is one of Puntland’s leading public learning and research centers. The facility provides access to books, educational resources, digital learning tools, and public discussion forums that support students, researchers, youth, professionals, and community members. PLRC also hosts trainings, civic dialogues, educational forums, and community events that promote knowledge sharing and leadership development.

Masraxa Dookh – Youth Civic Theatre

Masraxa Dookh is SFS’s youth-led creative and dialogue platform that promotes civic awareness, peacebuilding, culture, and youth expression through theatre, storytelling, poetry, and public performances. The platform creates opportunities for young people to engage communities, discuss social issues, and strengthen community dialogue through arts and creativity.

Radio Sahan – Community Media

Radio Sahan is a community media platform that promotes public awareness, civic education, social cohesion, and responsible public dialogue. Through educational programs, governance discussions, and youth and women-focused content, Radio Sahan strengthens informed citizenship and community engagement across Somalia.

Meeting Halls & Conference Facilities

SFS operates modern meeting halls and conference facilities that support trainings, workshops, consultations, community dialogues, and institutional events. The facilities provide accessible and professional spaces for government institutions, civil society organizations, businesses, academic institutions, and development partners.

Office Spaces & Rental Facilities

The Civic Hub also includes office spaces and rental facilities that support local organizations, businesses, and development initiatives. These facilities contribute to collaboration, innovation, and the long-term sustainability of SFS civic infrastructure and community engagement platforms.

Building Community Connections

Through the Civic Hub & Media Platform, SFS continues to strengthen public dialogue, education, youth participation, civic engagement, and community collaboration by creating inclusive spaces where ideas, knowledge, and communities come together.

Our Theory of Change

Why Civic Infrastructure Matters

In fragile and post‑conflict contexts, inclusive governance requires more than policies. It requires safe and accessible spaces where citizens can learn, dialogue, and participate constructively.

Reduces youth marginalization

Strengthens citizen‑government dialogue

Institutionalizes youth and women participation

Provides non‑violent civic expression channels

Supports long‑term community resilience

Through the Civic Hub & Media ecosystem, Somali Family Services demonstrates that strengthening governance is not only about policies — it is about creating lasting spaces where communities can learn, dialogue, and lead change.
